Caffeinated energy drinks: what you should know
Critical priority
What you should do
- 1Check to see if you have recalled products.
- 2Those under 14 years of age, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and individuals sensitive to caffeine should not consume CEDs.
- 3If you choose to consume CEDs, read the label to understand how much caffeine is in a serving, how many servings are in the container, and follow the cautionary statements that appear on the label, such as: Not recommended for those under 14 years old, pregnant or breastfeeding women or individuals sensitive to caffeine; and, Do not drink more than X serving(s) per day.
- 4Be aware that drinking CEDs with alcohol may increase the potential for consuming more alcohol than intended, which could increase your risk of alcohol-related harms.
- 5Health Canada recommends that parents talk to their teens about the risks of consuming alcohol, including the risk of combining alcohol with CEDs.
